The DPS Mothers Refuge project transforms an existing building into a safe, welcoming home for single mothers and their families. Through a full interior renovation and mechanical overhaul, Martin Mechanical helped create a space designed for comfort, dignity, and long-term support.

The building was fully gutted and structurally updated before Martin Mechanical replaced outdated mechanical systems with modern, high-efficiency solutions. The team removed and replaced two existing 20-ton rooftop units with new Trane RTUs, installed all-new rooftop and interior ductwork, and rebuilt the main trunk and distribution systems to serve more than 20 residential rooms across three floors.

Additional scope included demolition of legacy equipment and ductwork in the boiler room, installation of a new building management system (BMS) to allow individualized temperature control in living spaces and common areas, and complete installation of all duct equipment and finishes. Exposed spiral ductwork was incorporated in shared spaces, adding a modern, welcoming aesthetic while maintaining performance and efficiency.

More than a renovation, this project represents a commitment to creating environments that support healing, stability, and new beginnings. By delivering reliable comfort and thoughtful design, Martin Mechanical helped ensure this refuge can serve families with care, dignity, and consistency for years to come.
