Conversion of a 460,000 sq ft facility into NKC’s early childhood center, completed as a mechanical and plumbing project with a total cost of 2.3M, including classrooms, offices, district training rooms, and day-care spaces. The scope included the installation of (3) 2M BTU boilers for a lead-lag heating system, two-pipe heating distribution serving (88) VAVs, (2) large AHUs providing HVAC cooling to (88) VAVs, and (4) critical cooling systems supporting technology rooms.

The North Kansas City Early Childhood Center project involved the extensive remodeling of a 460,000 square foot building to establish the city’s first early childhood center. The facility is equipped with a 140-unit Variable Air Volume (VAV) system regulating climate across 156 rooms and offices. A two-pipe distribution system was installed along with two 70-ton Trane air handling units providing primary cooling. Additional CRAC units and rooftop units were incorporated to support IT and other critical spaces, ensuring reliable performance and long-term operational efficiency.
